Former outfielder Jay Buhner was a force on the field, a leader in the clubhouse and a leader in the community. He was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame on August 24, 2004. Buhner, who came to the Mariners in a 1988 trade with the New York Yankees, played 14 seasons in a Seattle Mariners uniform.
