The Huron Historic Gaol is a One of a Kind Building Huron County Museum

The Gaol served as a focal point of justice and was where the Huron District Council held its first meeting on Feb. 8, 1842. As time went on, the Gaol's role began to shift; when the new courthouse was constructed in the centre of Market Square Goderich, in 1856, the Gaol's sole purpose became holding prisoners.
